Can I still pursue my dream job in marketing and advertisment with a class b (theft) misdemeanor record?

I am a sophomore going on junior in college majoring in marketing with a minor in spanish I recently was charged with a misdemeanor of shoplifting which i am NOT proud of as it was a detriment to my family and now future. I always wanted to become a buyer for a high end retail corporation. should I give that up and look to other career options or can I still go forth with my goals? this was also the ONLY time I have ever been in trouble with the law.
