If i have been accused of assault will that cause detriment to my partners claim for contact with his son?

My partner put in for contact of his son with an ex partner, the day after she recieved the papers 4 of her friends attacked me, obviously i have fought back. they are now claiming that i attacked them (because a sane person would attack a group of girls on her own) and are trying to have me arrested for assault......my partners ex has txt me after this incident and said that i ''played into their hands and now my partner will never be granted access'' is this correct?
