When everything boils down to the nitty gritty: aren't human rights and the idea of god/religion a bunch of?

So I'm going to ignore most of this question in assuming most people believe in separation of church and state. But how are human rights damaging us? Isn't that what you are directly speaking to here? Advancements in human and animal and environmental rights? Perhaps you have a different definition of "Human Rights" than me.
